Department of History is one of the oldest and leading departments of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahavidyalaya, Peth Vadgaon. Department of History which was established in June 1984 runs Shivaji University, Kolhapur’s UG Course. The department is also functioning to build society through education. The Department of History of this institution is on its forward march. The Department of History offers undergraduate, diploma, and certificate courses. Research activities in the department would be strengthened. The faculty members will undertake Minor/Major research projects with financial assistance from UGC, ICSSR, ICHR, MHRD, State University, and other funding agencies. The department has planned to publish a book entitled Local Studies of Southern Maharashtra.

The department faculty can provide valuable guidance to the students who are preparing for competitive examinations conducted at the nation and state levels. The faculty has the expertise to answer any inquiry related to the study of the history of the world in general and the history of India in particular. Faculty Member frequently participates in public functions, delivers a lecture on a variety of topic, and occasionally contributes to newspaper magazines. The department also organizes coaching and workshops for students appearing in the competitive exam. The students come from rural areas. In that light Departmental faculty takes efforts to train them in academic language and support them in their day-to-day academic problems.
